About Endpoint Agent Tests
Troubleshoot your employees' experience when accessing your organization's approved SaaS and private applications by running synthetic tests. Synthetic tests are designed to identify performance issues with user journeys by simulating real-user traffic to monitor the availability of services and the response time of applications.
How the Test Works
When you onboard with Secure Access, the ThousandEyes endpoint agent is installed on the end user's laptop or desktop that monitors applications through a browser plug-in. Because the agent goes where the user goes, you can use it to troubleshoot performance issues for a user or set of users along their path from the device to the cloud service.
Number of Allowed Tests and Data Retention
The number of tests you can run is based on your organization's ThousandEyes license. The embedded license is assigned by default when you follow the steps to onboard Experience Insights.
License type | Number of scheduled tests | Number of dynamic tests | Test data retention |
---|---|---|---|
Embedded (default) | 1 network test | 1 | 4 days |
Essentials | 3 | 1 | 14 days |
Advantage | 9 | 1 | 30 days |
You can run a combination of multiple scheduled and dynamic tests at a time. If you exceed the number of allowed tests, ThousandEyes uses a mechanism to determine which tests should run on a given agent. For information, see Assigning tests to an Endpoint Agent.
For more information about ThousandEyes licensing, see ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent Licensing. To upgrade your license, contact ThousandEyes support or your sales representative.
Limitations
- A maximum of 150,000 endpoint agents can be included in a single test.
- Strongly recommended: Before running large-scale tests, run a test with a small subset of agents to ensure that your network can support the test traffic between Secure Access and your on-premise environment.
